1. Introduction

Welcome to Clarq ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our time tracking and project management application at clarq.app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, password, and profile picture
  • Organization Data: Company name, team member information, and organizational settings
  • Project Data: Project details, client information, time entries, activities, and related notes
  • Payment Information: Billing details processed through our secure payment processor (Stripe)
  • Calendar Data: When you connect a Google Calendar account, we access calendar event titles, times, and durations to enable time entry creation from calendar events. We also store your calendar preferences and project mappings for recurring events.

  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our service
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, and pages viewed

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services

  • Send you technical notices and support messages
  • Respond to your comments and questions
  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our services

  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • Within Your Organization: Time entries, projects, and related data are shared with members of your organization
  • Service Providers: We work with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf (e.g., hosting, payment processing, analytics)

  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information.

  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a structured format
  • Opt-out: Opt-out of marketing communications

8. Google Calendar Integration

Clarq offers an optional Google Calendar integration that allows you to view calendar events and create time entries from them. This section describes how we handle your Google Calendar data.

Data Access

When you connect your Google Calendar account, we request read-only access to:

  • Your calendar list (primary, secondary, and shared calendars)
  • Calendar event details (titles, times, and durations)

We only request the calendar.readonly scope, meaning Clarq cannot create, modify, or delete events in your Google Calendar.

Data Storage and Security

  • OAuth Tokens: Access and refresh tokens are encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption before being stored in our database
  • Calendar Preferences: Your selected calendars and default calendar settings are stored to personalize your experience
  • Event Mappings: When you associate a recurring calendar event with a project or activity, we store this mapping to auto-fill future instances. Mappings not accessed for 90 days are automatically deleted.

Data Usage

Your Google Calendar data is used solely to:

  • Display your calendar events within the Clarq time tracking interface
  • Pre-fill time entry fields when you select an event
  • Remember your project/activity preferences for recurring events

We do not share your calendar data with third parties, use it for advertising, or analyze it for purposes other than providing the time tracking features you requested.

Disconnecting

You can disconnect your Google Calendar account at any time from Account Settings. When disconnected, we delete your stored OAuth tokens and calendar preferences.

To fully revoke Clarq's access to your Google account, you should also visit Google Account Permissions and remove Clarq from the list of connected apps.

9. Third-Party Services

Our service uses the following third-party services that may collect information:

  • Google OAuth: For authentication services
  • Google Calendar API: For optional calendar integration (read-only access to calendar events)
  • Stripe: For payment processing
  • Supabase: For database and authentication services

These services have their own privacy policies and we encourage you to review them.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.

11. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
